With both Dexterity and Intelligence at 14, the Prisoner is wellrounded in that it can handle close-quarters and distance combat, including magic. It also has an 11 in Strength, which will allow Prisoners to handle some decent weapons. That said, its Vigor and Endurance stats are lacking, and will need some early investments to keep up in battle.
With a fairly low 11 in Vigor, start investing in this stat right away if you want to survive combat with more than a sliver of health. The Prisoner has enough Strength and Dexterity to handle early weapons, so spend your Runes and get the Vigor stat to 20 as soon as possible.
The Prisoner's Intelligence and Dexterity are both pretty high, so it makes sense to focus on one of these for your build. You may even decide to level them both up, as raising Dextering will also reducing the cast time for spells. Furthermore, even if you choose to focus on using Sorceries or Incantations, you'll still want to have some kind of weapon for close combat.
At the start of the game, Dexterity will likely be the better investment, but you will be able to respec your stats later on if you want to reassign stat points into Intelligence.
