Once players reach the Mistwood Ruins, simply use the Finger Snap gesture and Blaidd will hop over one of the walls. Speak to him and he will ask for your help to hunt down a traitor named Darriwil.
To progress Blaidd's questline, head over to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol and prepare for a boss fight. Choose the option to enter the evergaol and fight the Bloodhound Knight Darriwil.
During the fight, players can summon Blaidd via the gold summon sign. Doing so prompts additional dialogue as he enters the Evergaol. Defeat Darriwil to progress Blaidd's quest.
How to Beat Bloodhound Knight Darriwil
Once Darriwil is beaten, you can speak to Blaidd right next to the entrance of the Evergaol. He will reward you with a Somber Smithing Stone [2] for your troubles. Additionally, he will clue you in to talking to a large smith when you go to Liurnia of the Lakes.
To unlock the rest of Blaidd's questline, players will first need to join the cause of Ranni the Witch in Liurnia. To do this, you will need to reach the Three Sisters area behind Caria Manor. Speak to Ranni at Ranni's Rise to enter into her service.
Ranni the Witch (Renna) Questline and Location
While optional, telling Iji the Blacksmith that you know Blaidd will allow you to purchase the Carian Filigreed Crest from him. Consider stopping by and speaking to him as he is the earliest merchant that sells Somber Smithing Stones to the player.

Caria Manor is a large, walled-off area in the northwest end of Liurnia. Players will need to explore it in order to find the boss room that leads to the Three Sisters area and to Ranni the Witch.
Caria Manor Location and What to Do
Royal Knight Loretta is a boss that guards the way to the Three Sisters. Defeat her to unlock the rest of Caria Manor for exploration. Invest in Vigor if you do not have enough, as most of her attacks during the second phase can one-shot glass cannon builds.
How to Beat Royal Knight Loretta
With Loretta defeated, enter the Three Sisters area and ascend Ranni's Rise. Speak to Ranni the Witch at the top and pledge your service to her cause.

Blaidd's mission is to find Nokron and retrieve the Fingerslaying Blade from its depths. Meet him at the Siofra River and help him find the entrance to Nokron, the Eternal City.
For players who have not gone to the Siofra River, this underground area can be accessed by using the Siofra River Well elevator in Limgrave. Head over there and explore the underground area until you find Blaidd.

Once you find Blaidd, speak to him about Nokron. He will ask you to look for a way into the city while also suggesting that Seluvis may know a thing or two about finding the path to Nokron. Exhaust his dialogue before proceeding.
To ask help from Seluvis, head back to the Three Sisters area. Go to Seluvis' Rise and speak to the preceptor about Nokron. He will give you a letter of introduction and tell you to ask Sellen about the entrance.
With the letter in hand, go ahead and meet Sorceress Sellen at the Waypoint Ruins in Limgrave. Show her the letter and she will tell you that you need to defeat Starscourge Radahn to get to the Eternal City.
Return to Blaidd's location at the Siofra River. Tell him about what Sellen shared and what you have to do to open Nokron's entrance. Afterwards, exhaust his dialogue until he tells you to meet him during the Festival of Comabt in Caelid.

Once you do get to the entrance of Nokron in Limgrave, Blaidd will be nowhere in sight. To find out where he went, players can opt return to where you first met him in the Mistwood Ruins. Read his message about weeding out a traitor among Ranni's servants.

To find the still-missing Blaidd, return to the Forlorn Hound Evergaol (where you fought Darriwil) and free him from his imprisonment. He will tell you that it was Iji who trapped him after he breaks free.
Note: Like the previous step, freeing Blaidd is entirely optional as he will break free on his own after you finish Ranni's questline. You can also speak to Iji after this for additional dialogue regarding Blaidd.
To get to the end of Blaidd's questline, players will need to finish Ranni's until the point when you meet her at the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Prepare accordingly as this is one of the longest NPC questlines in the game.
Note: At one point of Ranni's quest, you will fight a Baleful Shadow that has Blaidd's model and moveset. Use this encounter to study the reach of his attacks to prepare for the Blaidd mini-boss, later on.

"Kale send you, did he? Ever the bloody busybody. Hmm. Maybe to him, you don't seem so strange. The name's Blaidd. I'm looking for a man who goes by Darriwil." |
---|
"Darriwil, rotting in a cell is no true justice. No...This is where it ends for you." |
---|
"Oh yes, I should say. If you venture north to Raya Lucaria, and come across a venerable blacksmith who's a little on the large side...Tell him I sent you. And he'll be sure to treat you right." |
---|
"Ah, good to see you. Apologies mate, bute I don't have much to report. I can see bloody Nokron, right above me, but I'm absolutely stumped. I've tried all the gateways, to no avail... Perhaps it's time to ask Seluvis? I recall that spiteful little rat acting like he knew something..." |
---|
"Ah, there you are. Took your sweet time. The players are all made up, and waiting for the curtain... Let's give them a show to remember, eh. Just don't go dying on me. For Ranni's sake, too. Once more into the fray together, eh. Heh, this might even be fun." |
---|
"What a sick way to fight, eh. The glory of the clash is shared, by Radahn and you. And hah! Did you see that, afterwards? A falling star, right before our eyes! I can't fathom how Radahn was holding back something of that scale. He was a living legend, if ever I saw one. And, the path has now been cleared. To Nokron, where Ranni's fate will be decided." |
---|
"Oh, it's you... It's me, Blaidd. Old Iji trapped me here. Told me I'd bring nought but bale to Lady Ranni. But there's no chance that could happen. I'm part of her being. Her very shadow... I thought old Iji knew as much... Honestly, I don't know what's going on anymore... " |
---|
"No. I'm part of her very being! I could never betray her! No matter what might happen... Ranni... She needs me..." |
