How to Play Resurgence in Season 2

Warzone 2.0 - How to Play Resurgence

Resurgence is a game mode from the original Warzone that makes its return in the Season 2 Update for Warzone 2. Read on to learn more about Resurgence Battle Royale, including how to play this alternate BR game mode and what you can find in its new Ashika Island map.

What is Resurgence?

Battle Royale With Multiple Respawns

Warzone 2.0 - Ashika Island Resurgence Mode

Resurgence is similar to the standard Battle Royale ruleset but with multiple respawns. The respawns are unlimited as long as at least one member is alive on your team. If a squad member is killed while one or more team members are still alive, a countdown will appear beside their name. Once the countdown reaches zero, the eliminated member will redeploy back in the battlefield.

The countdown can be shortened by your squadmates if they perform certain in-game objectives such as eliminating enemies. This mechanic, alongside quick respawns, encourages and rewards aggressive play.

Late Game Circles Will Extend Respawn Cooldowns Until No Respawns are Left

Each circle collapse in the returning Resurgence mode extends the length of your respawn countdown timer. Once you get to the final few circles, respawns will be disabled. The only way to get you or your team back after dying is to use buybacks bought from Buy Stations.

Played on the New Ashika Island Map

Warzone 2.0 - Tsuki Castle

Resurgence will be played on Ashika Island - a smaller BR map that guarantees more action and quicker matches due to the modified ruleset of the game mode. This brand new map will feature a Japanese-themed environment, with multiple POIs bordered by both land and sea.

Just like Al Mazrah, Ashika Island presents a variety of options to get around the map including an underground waterway that is perfect for the brand new Personal Watercraft Vehicle added in Season 2.

Prepare Your Loadout

Modern Warfare 2 - Edit Loadout

While Resurgence functions the same as Battle Royale where you'll be dropped in to pick up weapons and equipment on the floor, customizing your loadout is still a good precautionary measure as you'll still have the opportunity to grab your personal loadout from Buy Stations.

Select a Queueing Option

Warzone 2.0 - Squad Up

Unlike the original Resurgence in the first Warzone, different squad sizes are available to queue up in Resurgence mode, it can be played in Solos, Duos, Trios, and Quads.

Eliminate All Enemy Squads

Warzone 2.0 - Restore Honor

The main goal of Resurgence is to wipe out all enemy squads until your team is the last squad standing. Resurgence is a bit more difficult when it comes to claiming victory as players have access to multiple respawns upon death, as long as one of their teammates is still alive in the match.

For team members who are still alive, it's recommended to play it safe and wait for their dead teammates to respawn before heading back into combat, this boosts the chances of winning as going against fully stacked teams lowers the odds of surviving as the last squad.

Wait For the Respawn Timer If You Die

Warzone 2.0 - Wait for Respawn Timer If You Die

If you die during the match, you'll have to wait for the Respawn Timer Countdown to end before you can be redeployed back in the game — take note that the timer can be lessened each time your team eliminates an opponent.
