Ashika Island is the new upcoming map for Season 2 and is the designated battleground for the returning Resurgence mode. This game mode plays out on the brand new map, supporting group sizes that range from Solos to Quads.
This Japanese-themed map will feature several points-of-interests (POIs) for players to drop, loot, and fight in, including secret locations that contain rare loot and legendary supply boxes. At the center of it all stands Tsuki Castle - a large Japanese fortress derived from the classic Call of Duty: World at War Map, Castle.
Ashika Island: New Resurgence Map and All POIs
Restore Honor is a new a feature in Ashika Island where all dead operators will drop dog tags once per match and can be picked up by themselves upon respawning or retrieved by a fellow squadmate to redeem a cash reward, as well as a UAV ping that marks enemy threats and nearby Supply Boxes.
What is Restore Honor in Resurgence?
The Personal Watercraft (or PWC) or the Jet Ski will be making its way to Ashika Island and Al Mazrah as a brand new watercraft vehicle. The Jet Ski will be the fastest water vehicle in the game but will also have considerably less protection for passengers compared to the Armored Patrol Boat and RHIB.
With the release of Ashika Island comes the Season 2 Launch Event - Path of the Ronin. Open to all players, this event will consist of seven different challenges that you will need to complete accross Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2. In return, you will be rewarded with customization items as well as a brand new Season 2 weapon.
Path of the Ronin Season 2 Event: All Challenges and Rewards
The Crossbow is a silent and deadly weapon that allows players to take down enemies stealthily, all while being able to retrieve any spent bolts for future use. Wield this unique weapon by completing all seven Path of the Ronin challenges in Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 once Season 2 launches.
Season 2 will remove 2v2 Gulags and replace it with the 1v1 Gulag mechanics of Warzone Caldera. On top of this change, Gulag ground loot will get a switch up, introducing Assault Rifles, Submachine Guns, and Light Machine Guns to the primary weapon pool in order to shake up the current meta.
The Looting System for Warzone 2's Battle Royale and DMZ game modes have been revamped. All loot will now pop out and drop on the floor when interacting with a loot bag instead of opening the Loot UI window.
The price for Loadout Drop Markers have been reduced so that Squads will be able to get their full loadout at a much faster pace. In addition, players will now be able to randomly find a loadout drop marker while looting in Al-Mazrah.
Perk Packages will now be customizable instead of being forced to pick from a pre-set selection of packages.
The new Ashika Island map will also now be a deployable map in DMZ as the third Exclusion Zone alongside Al-Mazrah and Building 21. Similar to the usual DMZ mechanics, players can find loot and accept contract missions in the brand new map for Season 2.
The Bombmaker is the new boss on Ashika Island in DMZ mode. His current location is unbeknownst to the players but Operators who do find him, will have to prepare for a tough fight similar to Building 21's boss, Velikan.
Eliminating the Bombmaker will reward players with a new Weapons Case which contains rewards such as Calling Card, Blueprints, Emblems, or Stickers.
How to Get Ashika Island Weapon Cases and List of Rewards
A new DMZ Faction called Crown will make its debut in Season 2, exclusive only to owners of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2). This would mean that their missions and rewards will only be available to those who purchased the latest Call of Duty title.
The new Season 2 update will include a complete wipe of DMZ Keys from all players' inventories and a reset in progress for DMZ Faction Missions.
New Multi-Location Faction Missions will also be added which will send players to Al-Mazrah, Ashika Island, and Building 21. The Key Stash has also been revamped to hold certain mission items that players can bring to different Exclusion Zones.
The AI's difficulty has also undergone drastic changes to make DMZ an easier place for casual players. The changes include reducing the amount of AI spawning in different areas in the map and nerfing the accuracy of their weapons.
In addition to this, the difficulty curve for the current faction missions have been toned down to make it easier for players to achieve the additional insured weapon slot.

Dome | Zaya Observatory | Al Malik International | Valderas Museum |
Season 2 introduces a total of 4 maps to the multiplayer pool. 3 maps will be brand new additions to the game and 1 will be a returning map from the MW2 Beta.
Dome bears a resemblance to the classic map in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Similar to its classic counterpart, the map is small-scaled and will feature three main buildings with a central street in the middle. The most iconic location in the map, the Dome, provides a clear overview of the map's surroundings
Zaya Observatory is one of the locations from Warzone 2's Al-Mazrah map that will be featured in Ground War and Invasion modes for Multiplayer mode. The map will be expanded to cater to the large amount of vehicles, operators featured in the Ground War game mode
Another Al-Mazrah location, the Al Malik International airport will also be played out in Ground War and Invasion. There won't be any changes or further expansions to the map as the layout is already large enough to fit in the large-scaled battlefield.
Valderas Museum was featured in Modern Warfare 2's beta multiplayer but was quickly scrapped for unknown reasons. The map will make its return for the Season 2 update and can be played across all 6v6 Core Game Modes.
Infected Mode is a classic Call of Duty zombie-survival game mode to be re-introduced in Season 2 where one player randomly becomes the infected at the start of the match and is tasked with infecting all survivors in a match.
The objective of Gun Game is to race to 18 different weapon tier upgrades with each gun elimination awards one weapon upgrade, while melee kills to enemy Operators will downgrade that player's current weapon to the previous tier.
Grind is similar to the Kill Confirmed game mode, where dead Operators will drop dog tags. However, collecting dog tags are stackable and players will have to deliver it to two fixed locations for it to count in the scoreboard.
The popular Hardcore Mode returns in Season 2 to replace the new Tier 1 mode, the latter being heavily criticized by fans as it provided difficult mechanics compared to the classic Hardcore mode ruleset.
A quick breakdown for Hardcore Mode mechanics includes having limited HUD, turning on Friendly-Fire, and significantly lowering a player's health.
The introduction of Ranked Play for Season 2 will bring a competitive scene to Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer community as it will feature an ELO System, Skill Divisions, Visible Skill Ratings, Top 250 Leaderboards, and Competitive Rewards.
5 new guns will be added in the weapons arsenal for Season 2 which players can traditionally use across Modern Warfare 2's Multiplayer modes, and Warzone 2's Battle Royale and DMZ game modes.
The new weapons are:
Daniel 'Ronin' Shinoda is a new operator originally from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019. Lore-wise, his name comes from a rough translation of 'wanderer' and is a well-known saboteur who can infiltrate foreign defense systems and perform special reconnaissance missions.
PlayStation Plus Subscribers will receive an Oni Operator Skin, the Oni Pyroclast. In addition to this, PS players will also get the following bonuses:
In Season 2, the Prestige Rank Cap has been increased to Prestige 10 and the level cap to 500. Each new Prestige Rank comes with a new icon beside a player's name. The Prestige rank awards can be unlocked at the following ranks:
Additional new points-of-interests that can be explored have been added in Al Mazrah. The new locations are the following:
Data Heist is a new public event for Resurgence mode in Ashika Island that rewards Operators with Cash, XP, and a Tactical Equipment piece. The event occurs during the second circle collapse where three uplink stations will be activated online around Ashika Island which allows players to hack and download intel from them in exchange for the aforementioned valuable rewards.
Operators should exercise extreme caution when going for these machines as they are heavily guarded by Shadow Company soldiers.
The downloading progress can be sped up by eliminating the AI combatants, but be aware, enemy squads can halt the progress by engaging the station area or by using a DDOS Field Upgrade.
Search and Seizure is a new contract in Ashika Island to be released later on in Season 2 where players are tasked with reclaiming a stolen vehicle from Shadow Company forces. Upon accepting the contract, the approximate location of the vehicle will be revealed on the minimap and as a marker in the Tac-Map.
The objective is to eliminate any Shadow Company forces guarding the vehicle until one of them drops the vehicle's key. Operators should then drive the vehicle to the designated drop-off point.
Redeploy Drones are used to reposition Operators to different locations around the map. They are similar to Warzone Caldera's Redeploy Balloons.
To use these, Operators must hook up using a cable on the drone and they'll begin to ascend towards the hovering drone in the sky. Once reaching the top, the Operator will be launched in the direction they're facing and can safely parachute towards their chosen destination.
A new Combatant type is introduced in Season 2, the Rusher, a Close-Quarters Combat soldier with increased agility and speed, as well as specializing in the use of deadly swords.
They are easily killed due to their decreased stats in health & armor, and their reliance in close-range melee attacks, but are still considered a threat due to them also switching to pistols when fighting an unreachable target, and the use of mini-smoke bombs.
Drop Zone is a game mode where a Care Package containing random Killstreak rewards is sent down into designated drop zone areas every 15 seconds.
Expect this game mode to be featured weekly in the Playlist rotations at launch.
All or Nothing is a free-for-all mode where players are tasked with reaching 20 kills with only Throwing Knives and a pistol with no ammo in their arsenal. Operators are equipped with the Scavenger perk to gain ammo upon eliminating someone.
All Operators in the One in the Chamber mode is equipped with a handgun with only one bullet. Each kill awards them with an additional bullet, and Operators are limited to only three respawns. The player with the most eliminations at the end of the match wins.
