---|
|
Your first meeting with Xu Dog will be early on in Chapter 2, you can find him by dropping down the bridge next to the Village Entrance shrine and heading right into a tunnel. You'll find him standing right before the tunnel exit and he will tell you about a frog swallowing his formula.
When you exit the tunnel past Xu Dog, you'll find yourself looking down on an open area with water and a large frog at the center. You will have to defeat the frog, Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw, to retrieve Xu Dog's formula and continue with his quest.
After defeating the frog and obtaining the Evil Repelling Medicament formula, return to Xu Dog and he'll reward you with 2x Evil Repelling Medicament and the ability to craft your own consumables at any shrine.
To continue this quest, you'll have to first obtain the Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger by defeating both the Stone Vanguard and Tiger Vanguard, respectively. This is part of the main story, so you can't miss these bosses.
Chapter 2: Yellow Sand Desolate Dusk Walkthrough Guide
Interact with the tally in the middle of the Crouching Tiger Temple by the headless statue where you fought the Tiger Vanguard to reveal the hidden cellar underneath.
Go down the cellar and fight your way through to the end where you will exit through a cave and a slope that leads to the Cellar shrine. Look around the area and you'll find Xu Dog talking to himself inside a jar next to a furnace.
Approach him and he'll thank you for your help and reward you with a Mind Core and the ability to craft Celestial Medicine.
How to Get Mind Core and Location
Later once you're in Chapter 3 and you've completed the Ruyi Scroll Quest, Xu Dog and his furnace will move from the Cellar to the Zodiac Village. This area centralizes all the important vendors such as Xu Dog, Shen Monkey, Yin Tiger, and Chen Loong!
You can craft medicine by talking to Xu Dog after completing his questline. You'll be able to make both Celestial and Mortal medicine this way. Xu Dog also sells Medicine Formulas in exchange for Will.
Celestial Medicine grants permanent effects for the Destined One such as increased Maximum Health, Mana, Stamina, and even Defense and Resistances. These are crafted using Mind Cores and can only be done by talking to Xu Dog.
Mortal Medicine may also be crafted either by talking to Xu Dog directly or at any shrine. These grant temporary effects for the Destined One and are crafted using a variety of ingredients.
