Spells are the foundation for a person's destiny and survival. Choosing the right moment to use spells can have a miraculous effect on changing the tide of battle.
"How many spells can be cultivated for immortality, and how vast are the transformations learned?"
— Wu Cheng'en, Journey to the West
Spells are divided into four categories:
Spells can be prepared and adjusted at the Land Temple.
The Binding Technique is a strange spell that can immobilize a targeted monster in place.
Spell Cost: 60
Spell Cooldown: 30
Type: Active Spell
Once the destined person has the golden character "Bind" inscribed in their palm, they can directly learn this strange technique.
By simply pointing a finger and focusing on the incantation, they can freeze their opponent in place, rendering them unable to move.
However, a powerful opponent with great magical abilities can break free from the binding more quickly, so caution is advised.
In the heat of battle, if the opponent is fierce and aggressive, it may be difficult to keep them immobilized for long, yielding little advantage.
The best time to use this technique is when the opponent is standing still, knocked down, or weakened.
When the opponent is stationary, downed, or weakened, it may be the perfect opportunity to cast the Binding Technique.
The Safety Technique is a strange spell that can create a magic circle to block small monsters and enhance drinking. The inspiration comes from Chapter 50 of the original text, "Safety Spell."
Spell Cost: 60
Spell Cooldown: 90
Type: Active Spell
This life-saving technique was fortuitously learned by the destined person in a cold and harsh environment.
By simply taking a stick and drawing a circle on the ground, they can keep warm, rest, and prepare for enemies.
Standing within the circle allows for a continuous increase in stick power and accelerates recovery of energy; if warm wine is consumed during this time, the effects are even more remarkable.
The fire circle lasts for a considerable time; even if one steps out to fight for a moment, they can return to the circle at any time to seek another opportunity.
Once the time limit is reached, the circle will naturally dissipate.
After casting the Safety Technique, the circle will remain until the spell dissipates.
During this time, if one leaves the circle and returns, they will still benefit from its effects.
Additionally, if a monster approaches, casting this spell can cause it to fall.
Against the Red-Butt Monkey, it can instill fear, causing it to remain frozen in place.
The Copper Head, Iron Arm technique is an active spell that can instantly become as hard as black iron, capable of withstanding physical attacks.
Spell Cost: 30
Spell Cooldown: 10
Type: Active Spell
This defensive technique is learned by the destined person through extraordinary encounters and experiences.
By shrugging their shoulders and straightening their back, they transform into a solid rock. If the opponent strikes this "rock," it will cause pain in their hands.
If the opponent is knocked back unexpectedly, it presents a perfect opportunity to pursue and attack.
Though this technique may seem clumsy, it requires precise timing to be effective; using it too early or too late will not yield results.
Some opponents, being strong and fierce, may have attacks powerful enough to break through the Copper Head, Iron Arm.
This technique can eliminate the accumulation of poison attribute debuffs but cannot remove lightning attribute debuffs.
A few strong and large opponents may pose a threat to the Copper Head, Iron Arm with their fierce attacks.
The Gathering Form, Scattering Qi technique is an active spell that allows one to transform into white smoke and escape, seeking opportunities to attack again.
Spell Cost: 30
Spell Cooldown: 35
Type: Active Spell
This movement technique is naturally comprehended by the destined person through absorbing the essence of demons and monsters.
After performing a hand gesture and reciting an incantation, they leave behind a false body while swiftly dispersing into clear air, moving lightly and swiftly like smoke.
This allows them to evade the opponent's attacks and can also lure the enemy in, creating opportunities for maneuvering.
When they reassemble, they can launch a flying kick or charge up for a powerful strike. If the opponent is unprepared, they may catch them off guard.
Escaping in a dispersed state already recoups the cost; if a counterattack succeeds, it yields additional benefits.
Key Insight
While the hidden strike in a dispersed state is powerful, if not executed at the right moment, it can easily miss.
The External Body Technique is a Hair Technique, an active spell that can summon multiple clones to assist in battle.
Spell Cost: 130
Spell Cooldown: 60
Type: Active Spell
This spell is cast by the destined person using their body hair.
By plucking a handful of hair, chewing it, and then spitting it into the air, they can transform into several Hair Monkeys.
These Hair Monkeys are agile and capable of both attacking and fleeing, just like the destined person.
When they see an opponent bullying their master, they will rush in to engage, allowing the master to catch their breath or escape.
However, the lives of the Hair Monkeys are not sturdy; against powerful opponents, they risk being quickly extinguished.
The clones created from the hair are not very durable and may be quickly defeated by strong opponents.
