Installation Guide

Image
[left]This mod requires Norbyte's Script Extender. You install it by dropping it into the bin folder in your game directory. Additionally, if you're using the BG3 Mod Manager, you can go to "Tools"-> "Download & Extract Script Extender" to have the manager install it for you.

Mod Instructions:

Save your game first because you may come across problems that require loading your save.

Make sure you have the newest version of Script Extender.

When you launch the game for the first time, you will receive a spell on your hotbar automatically. The spell looks like Seaming (blue with 3 masks on top of each other). If you remove this spell from your Hotbar, you won't get it back. You'll have to check your spellbook for the character to see the spell again and re-add it to your Hotbar.

The spell you get is a container for 3 spells. More spells to come in the future.

Resculpt

Resculpt is not perfect on Patch 6. You will have issues in the mirror/level-up/respec screens on characters whose body size you changed dramatically.

This spell lets you change the body type or race of ANY character that casts it. Please follow these instructions step-by-step if you wish to use this feature:

[list=1]
Before you begin, make sure you're on the newest version of the mod and your script extender version is at minimum 8.

Select the character that you wish to edit. The character that casts the Resculpt spell will be the one that is edited, even in a multiplayer lobby.

Casting the Resculpt spell will open the Character Creation Screen for EVERY player in the lobby. If you are in a multiplayer lobby, please tell the players that DID NOT CAST THE SPELL to select Dark Urge and hit confirm, confirming on the guardian screen as well, to exit out. Picking Dark Urge in this menu is how you exit the menu if you change your mind in either solo or multiplayer play.

If you are the one who cast the spell, select the Custom Origin at the very top of the screen. DO NOT SELECT ANYTHING ELSE

Modify the character's race, subrace, body type, and appearance however you want. ONLY THESE THINGS will be copied over. Voice is copied for Tavs but not Hirelings or Origins.

Hit confirm (ignore the naming part, it doesn't matter) and hit confirm again on the Guardian screen. Nothing you do on the guardian screen matters so skip it by confirming forward.

Your character should now change to the new appearance. If you see an extra character, or your appearance isn't changing, or any other issues, make sure you have followed the steps properly. If you have, make a post or bug report WITH A SCREENSHOT OF THE CONSOLE AND EXACT STEPS LISTED.

There are some things you have to do after.

Your portrait won't change until you enter the Mirror and confirm. You don't have to change anything in the mirror, you just have to enter and confirm.
You won't get the new racial passives/spells UNTIL you save and reload the game.

Current "issues" and solutions:

Non-host multiplayer players might have issues with the character in the Mirror, Respec, and Level-Up screens. Ask your host to make any changes for you if you need them post-resculpt. I'm looking into a fix for this at the moment, please be patient.

Uninstalling the mod from this point on may cause issues with how the character looks in the Mirror, Respec, and Level-Up screens. Be aware of this. There shouldn't be any other issues other than visual from what I've seen.

If you remove transforms or have another mod that removes transforms from your character, it may mess with the look of the character. A common occurrence will be if Wyll gets turned into the devil and you wish to use the command I list to remove him from it. If this happens, just Resculpt again.

If you have any issues where characters are changed even after loading a previous save just restart your game.

There is no way to get back to an Origin character's original appearance. I plan to add this feature.

There is no way to edit the appearance of a character before they join your party. I may add this feature.

Mirror

This spell opens the mirror on any character to let you edit your character. If you are trying to edit an Origins character, you MUST install the optional Appearance Edit Origins file to be able to change what you see in the mirror.

Respec

This spell lets you respec as if you were talking to Withers. It does nothing else.

Known "Issues":

Wyll is not editable after transformation. Run this command. (Be aware, that this will break any race/body type changing you have done and remove his devil form permanently)

Osi.RemoveTransforms("S_Player_Wyll_c774d764-4a17-48dc-b470-32ace9ce447d")

Confirmation button is not working

Make sure you've updated ImprovedUI if you use it
Make sure you've selected voice
Make sure you've got all options in CC selected (check every tab), even if the option is no option
Maybe move the position of the mod around in the load order
Try hitting randomize

Body/Race swap issues

Most issues related to body/race swap can be fixed by resculpting again. Additionally, make sure you have Script Extender updated to a minimum of v14

Compatibility:

If you are having issues with CC option compatibility, make sure you're on the latest version of Appearance Edit Origins. There might be compatibility issues with other mods that change this same file and the same characters.

Installation:

Use either the Vortex Mod Manager or the BG3 Mod Manager and install this mod. Make sure you deploy your mods if using Vortex or export the mod list if using BG3 Mod Manager. Editing characters requires Norbyte's Script Extender.

You should put this mod on the bottom of your load order.

Uninstallation:

Remove the mod like you would any other. Be aware, if you resculpted to a different Race/Body Type, you may see issues with your character in the Respec, Mirror, and Level-up screens after you uninstall. Re-installing should fix these. Make sure to export your mod load order and delete the modsettings.lsx file entirely.

If you installed the Script Extender and wish to remove it, remove DWrite.dll and ScriptExtenderSettings.json from your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin or wherever your game install location is. As long as you removed these properly, there shouldn't be any issues on your save. If you do have problems, verify the integrity of the game cache on Steam.
