The Unexplained Rules of Playing Genshin Impact’s Ayaka Explained

Highlights

  • Kamisato Ayaka is one of the strongest DPS units in Genshin Impact, especially for Cryo, and her role as a sword user makes her friendly for players to use.
  • Ayaka can be used in various team compositions, including freeze teams, reverse melt teams, burst support teams, and mono Cryo teams.
  • Players should prioritize leveling up Ayaka's burst, normal attack, and skill talents. The Blizzard Strayer artifact set is recommended for boosting Cryo damage and Crit Rate, and additional Crit Rate can be obtained from artifact sub-stats, a Crit Rate circlet, and Cryo resonance.

Genshin Impact is always making strong units for players to use and love, and Kamisato Ayaka is no exception. She is one of the strongest DPSs in general for Genshin Impact, but especially for Cryo. Her role as a sword user makes her especially friendly for players to use, as there's an exceptional number of free-to-play swords in-game. Ayaka is, as a unit, generally free-to-play anyway, so the weapon typing is an additional boost for her.

As a popular unit, it is safe to assume she is a flexible unit as well. She excels the best when being used in a freeze team, but this isn't her only option. Reverse melt, burst support, and even mono Cryo are becoming popular alternatives to her usual (and best) team comp. Ayaka can be used alongside many other units, including ones given to the player off the bat, like Genshin Impact's Kaeya or Sucrose, which makes her an excellent selection.

Genshin Impact's Ayaka's Kit Explained

Ayaka's Build

When it comes to prioritizing Ayaka's talents, players should consider leveling her burst, then her normal attack, then her skill. One of her passives allows her normal attacks to be infused with Cryo after a dash. Like this, and similarly to many of Genshin Impact's Cryo characters, her best artifact set is Blizzard Strayer. The set helps boost Cryo damage as well as Crit Rate, especially in freeze teams for an added bonus. If players can keep enemies frozen, Ayaka will receive an additional 40% Crit Rate. While having only 40% isn't great, she can receive more from:

  • Artifact sub-stats (ideally Genshin Impact's Ayaka's build should have good Crit DMG, Crit Rate, ATK, and decent ER)
  • A Crit Rate circlet if the sub-stats are not sufficient
  • Cryo resonance (Having another Cryo unit on the team)

Ayaka's Weapons

To help Ayaka with her sub-stats and fill any gaps players may be missing, there are plenty of weapons for Genshin Impact's Ayaka that work well. While players should not feel the need to wish for a weapon, as this can often be expensive, Ayaka's signature weapon "Mistsplitter Reforged" is an overall wonderful sword. It offers high Crit DMG and high base ATK. Some of her best weapons include:

  • Amenoma Kageuchi (Inazuma craftable weapon)
  • Mistsplitter Reforged (Ayaka's signature)
  • Haran Geppaku Fetsu (Ayato's signature)

Ayaka's Team Comps

When it comes to using Ayaka alongside other party members, players should consider at least one other Cryo character, a hydro unit, and a crowd control character. The best team comp for Ayaka, though expensive, is Shenhe, Kokomi, and Kazuha. However, these units have free-to-play replacements for each of them, making the team much more affordable.

  • Shenhe: Replaced with Kaeya, Rosaria, or Diona
  • Kokomi: Replaced with Xingqiu or Barbara
  • Kazuha: Replaced with Sucrose (best) or Venti (not f2p, but another popular option)

Ayaka's Constellations

Though constellations require either a touch of luck, extra saved Primogems, or a willingness to spend, some of her constellations are incredibly worth it. Her C2 allows for more damage instances in her burst, a wonderful addition to her kit. As she's a burst DPS more than anything, her C3 is a good stopping point since it levels up her burst. However, this isn't the only solid Genshin Impact Ayaka constellation. Another one of her better constellations is her C4, allowing 30% DEF shred during her burst. Though these require more saving from the player, they are worth their weight in gold as valuable investments.
