No Character Redesign

When something isn't broken, you don't try to fix it. Such is the case for Echo's design from the first Overwatch game. Echo is one of heroes that has kept its original design with virtually no change.

How to Play and Tips

Fight at Close and Medium Ranges

Avoid fighting enemies from afar, as Echo's damaging abilities work best at close and medium range. Tri-Shot and Sticky Bombs are projectile-based abilities, meaning they are easier to land against nearby foes, and Focusing Beam only has an effective range of around 15 in-game meters.

Combine Tri-Shot and Sticky Bombs

Landing all of Sticky Bombs alongside a single burst of Tri-Shot can take down most Heroes with 200 HP. Practice landing this combo to quickly dispatch key enemy Supports and Damage Heroes.

Use Sticky Bombs in Choke Points

Aside from being an effective burst damage ability, Sticky Bombs also excel at controlling space and taking down clumped-up foes around choke points and payloads. Use this ability to wear down and deter advancing enemies.

Finish Off Foes with Focusing Beam

Focusing Beam deals massively increased damage against targets below 50% health. Use this ability to rapidly drain the health bars of low-health foes and barriers.

Flank and Surprise Foes with Flight and Glide

Use Echo's Flight and Glide to flank your opponents and attack them from unexpected angles, taking key enemy targets by surprise and quickly bursting them down.

Use Flight Wisely

While Flight is the core of Echo's mobility, it is also her only escape tool in difficult situations. Ensure that your team is nearby to support you when diving into foes with Flight, and don't hesitate to use it to disengage and keep yourself alive.

Duplicate Max Health is 300 Points

In Overwatch 2, Duplicate now has a maximum cap of 300 health points. While this change makes copying Tank Heroes with Duplicate less efficient, don't hesitate to do so if their abilities or ultimate can turn the tide of a team fight.

Significant Duplicate Targets

  • Damage: Mei, Reaper, Sombra, Soldier: 76, Tracer
  • Support: Ana, Baptiste, Brigitte, Lucio, Moira
  • Tanks (Low Priority): D.Va, Doomfist, Junker Queen, Orisa, Reinhardt, Sigma, Winston

How to Counter

Use Hitscan Heroes

Echo for the most part will probably be floating in an open space. This makes her susceptible to hitscan heroes like Widowmaker, Ashe, Soldier: 76, and Cassidy.

Echo's ultimate allows her to mimic the heroes currently in the game. Just be prepared to switch strategies quickly.

Echo Story

Mr. Liao's Creation

Echo Story 1 Overwatch 2
Echo was a project born of the ideas of Dr. Mina Liao, one of the founding members of Overwatch and one of the members of the team that created the very Omnics they are trying to defeat. While they had tried to limit Echo's capabilities to prevent history from repeating itself, Dr. Liao had secretly created a powerful AI that could learn through observation.

Echo Joins Overwatch

Echo Story 2 Overwatch 2
Cassidy is one of the few survivors that know of Echo's true capabilities after the death of Dr. Liao. After years of leaving Echo in quarantine, she was brought out to aid in a large fight against Omnics in Paris.
Now that Echo is a full fledged member of Overwatch, what will she learn and how will she evolve? Will she fulfill Dr. Liao's wish and be an echo of her true desire for Omnics to be a path to peace and prosperity? Only time will tell.
