One of Jaheira's side quests in Baldur's Gate 3 will lead players to the Lower City Counting House, where Rakath Glitterbeard will meet them and ask for help. The task of this quest is to return 10,000 gold to Glitterbeard, but is it worth it?
The Return Rakath's Gold quest is located in the southern part of Lower City and, like most of the quests in Baldur's Gate 3, allows players to decide what happens at the end. This guide offers detailed information on whether players should return Rakath Glitterbeard's money and details the rewards gained from doing so.
Moving along the storyline of Jaheira, in due time, players will come to the Lower City Counting House. There, they can go down to the vault and look for a character named Rakath Glitterbeard. During a conversation with the banker, players will learn that he has been robbed of a considerable amount of money. He will ask the group to return it for a reward. The Counting House weakened the security to trap Stone Lord, but something went wrong, and now the group must return the money.
In the vault, players will see shoe prints leading to the sewer. They can then go searching for the Stone Lord in the Abandoned Cistern to take back the money, but they should be careful; in the sewer, the heroes will face a puzzle, fights, and choices that will affect the story.
It's worth noting that if players kill Minsc, Jaheira will leave the group forever.
After the players win the battle and loot Roah Moonglow, the gold that was stolen from the Counting House will be in their pockets. After that, players can do one of the following:
After the players take the money and return it to Rakath, he will reward them with the following items:
Basically, Rakath's offer is worth much less than 10,000 gold.
By keeping the gold, players can get away with a lot of currency. This is a good idea because no one will threaten or hunt the heroes after that, and they will be able to buy really valuable items for this sum of money.
