WWE is an iconic American brand, and its future looked sunny after the high-profile merger with juggernaut MMA promotion UFC. However, all this changed when wrestling monarch Vince McMahon was slapped with a bombshell s-x-trafficking lawsuit.
The Business tycoon has now quit the executive chairmanship of TKO (via BBC) and the legacy promotion is battling an avalanche of terrible press.
Amid all this, the much-anticipated return of one of its biggest and most literally electrifying superstars, Dwayne Johnson, has come into question. Fresh inputs from sources reveal promising prospects for The Rock’s comeback at the WrestleMania.
But while in these difficult times, Johnson’s return could be the win the WWE so desperately needs, sources claim nothing has been confirmed about it yet.
Dwayne Johnson was a phenomenal superstar in the WWE ring. Even though he left the business for a fantastic career in Hollywood, fans have held on to the iconic allure of The Rock.
At the same time, his return to WrestleMania has long been teased. Now sources have revealed that even though a formal agreement hasn’t yet been inked between him and the promotion, he is very much willing to make a comeback in a bout with Roman Reigns.
This comes following @WrestleFeatures‘ tweet on X citing WON as the source, which claimed that:
According to WWE sources, The Rock has not officially signed a deal to wrestle, but the key word said about that is “Yet.” It is known that he is willing and said to be wanting to do a match with Roman Reigns and is strong on doing it at WrestleMania, but that is not locked in as of this week.

Nevertheless, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, and all such reporting remains unconfirmed.
All this intrigue has got wrestling fans excited, and there is a huge appetite to see The Rock headline the great event.
But what’s worth noting simultaneously is that the ongoing legal troubles with top executives at WWE have marred fan enthusiasm, with the promotion facing strong headwinds as it continues under new ownership and management.

Since The Rock’s match with real-life cousin Roman Reigns was one that had been much-anticipated for quite some time now, fans were really excited when they heard reports about Dwayne Johnson signing up once again with WWE WrestleMania.
However, it has all taken a tumble downwards with Vince McMahon-Janel Grant’s s*x trafficking lawsuit, with fans having multiple different opinions on the matter. Then there are these reports that The Rock’s deal isn’t officially signed yet, and that has further manipulated fans’ views on the matter.
While most want him to return, they don’t want him to get entangled in this controversy and want him to officially make his return to the ring through the next Wrestlemania. Taking to X, here’s what they’re saying as a whole:
Roman vs Rock does not need the title
Involved. Do not waste the WWE championship on that match. All for that match but not with the WWE title on the line, make it less predictable with no title as well.— Dom (@Underrated_Dom) January 26, 2024
It has to next year. The story isn’t there yet man. I’m just hoping that it doesn’t have to be for the title. I can’t stand another year of an absent Champ on Smackdown.
I don’t think that it’s a surprise that the favorites are all Raw Superstars. Seth has been very active in…

Title of tribal chief on line. No Championship on the line. Makes the match more interesting and UNPREDICTABLE

Knowing the Rock’s branding and media skills, I’d assume he’d want to distance himself a bit in the wake of the McMahon (and Brock) allegations.

Maybe The Rock can get involved and cost Roman his title at WM40 to Cody, leading into a big storyline between who is the true "head of the table".
Keeping Roman relevant without his championship.

The Rock is 100% focused on his image, I think given what's come out, he'll probably choose to steer clear of this for a while, all plans are in place for this year's Mania anyway, so I can see him doing it next year now instead.

I don’t think so. Not with him being on the board of TKO

As reports still remain unconfirmed about the entire matter, Dwayne Johnson continuing to make his deal official with WWE Wrestlemania this year doesn’t seem the most likely. However, he could very well turn the tables and choose to go on with the deal as per his wishes.
Thus, nothing can be said or assumed for confirmation as of now.
